Address of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija to the Russian public

The Serbian center for geostrategic studies, in cooperation with the Coordination Council of non-commercial organizations of Russia, organized in Moscow 28. November round table called: „The Balkans at the crossroads, with whom Serbia will be in a multipolar world“. The gathered guests were addressed by Dragana Trifkovic, general director of the Center for geostrategic studies with the topic "Serbian-Russian relations in the context of a special military operation", Vladimir Zotov, columnist for the publication Ukraine.Ru with the theme "Russia and Serbia: between declarations of love and concrete deeds" and Tatjana Stojanovic, editor of the publication Ukraine.Ru. with the theme "Kosovo and Metohija from the Kumanovo Agreement to the Ohrid plan: exit from the sphere of international law".

Participants of the round table read the letter of address of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija to the Russian public:

Information Service of the people's movement of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija "Fatherland"

The history of Serbian-Russian relations is centuries-old, friendly, brotherly, honest.

Even in the Middle Ages it was known that the Serbian noble families of Dejanovic, Jaksic married members of the Russian ruling dynasty. The cult of St. Sava was fully transferred from Serbia to Russia, as evidenced by numerous frescoes in Russian churches and monasteries.

The liberation of Serbia, TJ. the beginning of the autonomy of the Serbian principality in relation to the Turkish empire could not have passed without the absolute support of the Russian Empire. It was 1809. in the year when Russia was in a hurry to sign peace with the Turks because of the upcoming attack by Napoleon, it did not forget the Serbs, but in the peace agreement with the port it provided the Serbs with wide autonomy. Unfortunately, the Turks did not respect the peace agreement, they suppressed the Serbian Uprising in blood, but immediately after the Russian victory over Napoleon, the Russian Empire, under the threat of War to the Turks, demanded that the agreed autonomy for the Serbs be respected. This is how the liberation of Serbia began.

There have certainly been some bitter moments in the history of these relationships. This is especially true of the period 1878. the Treaty of Sanstefan and the Congress of Berlin when Petrograd sided with the so-called "St. Petersburg". Large Bulgarian and a good part of the territory, more precisely, three dioceses from the peak of St. Sava, belonged to the newly created Bulgarian state. From that time, letters from the Serbian population from the area of present-day Sofia are known, all the way to Velbuzd and Vidin, where they ask the Serbian king Milan Obrenovic not to allow these areas to be found in the Bulgarian state. They even said that they preferred to stay in Turkey rather than belong to Bulgaria. Unfortunately, the Bulgarians later showed absolute ingratitude towards their benefactors, primarily the Russian Empire, and sided with the Germans in both the first and Second World Wars.

Already in 1914. in the year of the Russian Tsar Nicholas, although Russia did not care about the war at that time because of the attack of Austria-Hungary on Serbia, protected from the heart, with all his strength, he sided with Serbia.

What we can note today is that the policy of today's rulers in Serbia is not very fond of Moscow. It is a public secret, and this is evidenced by the statement of the president of Serbia to the "Financial Times" that Serbia is in 2023. he sold weapons to Ukraine for more than 800 million euros. His finance minister Sinisa Mali says that he sees nothing strange in the sale of weapons to Ukraine because 20 thousand workers employed in the Serbian military industry have to make a living. After all, Russian military analyst Vladislav Shurygin is simply surprised when on the Russian side he finds shells that target Russian weaklings and civilians and are manufactured in Serbia.

Also, the Tirana declaration signed together with Vladimir Zelensky and other leaders of the Western Balkans states that the International Court of justice must prosecute the highest leadership of Russia for alleged crimes in Ukraine.

The frequent visits of the First Lady of Serbia Tamara Vucic to Kiev and her association with Jelena Zelensky in the Kiev Lavra cannot serve in honor of the Serbian leadership. This is all the more so because the Kiev Lavra was desecrated, kidnapped, dishonored by the regime in Kiev as well as by the unrecognized Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija wholeheartedly support the Russian side in the war in Ukraine and believe that this is not an expansion to this country but a struggle to protect the Russian population in that country as well as the Russian-speaking people.

Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija are fully convinced that Russia will win in this conflict because it is not only fighting with the authorities in Kiev, but also with the entire West, which is warring generously, with all its strength, weapons, money and mercenaries on the side of Ukraine. The victory of Russia in this war will create the conditions and with the help of, as the Serbs say, the mother of Russia, Kosovo and Metohija, finds itself once again part of the state of Serbia, torn from its mother by NATO bombs.

After the Russian victory, the geopolitical map in Europe will change and this will create conditions that Serbia and Serbs everywhere will be much easier to breathe with the help of their friends and protectors, hopefully, the new Russian Empire.
