The conference in Belgrade sent an appeal for the defense of canonical orthodoxy

The Center for geostrategic studies organized 30. June in Belgrade another international conference within the initiative "Blockade of aggression against the Church"The church and schisms, the abuse of religion for geopolitical purposes“.

The main conclusions of the conference are:

1. Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople is responsible for creating a schism in Orthodoxy, especially in Ukraine, through the allocation of Tomos to the non-canonical "Orthodox Church of Ukraine".

2. Ukrainian Orthodox church exposed to persecution, the abduction of temples and institutional repression, which the participants see as a direct consequence of the actions of the Phanars.

3. There is widespread geopolitical abuse of faith., whereby the Orthodox Church became a target in conflicts in Ukraine, Syria, Moldova, and even the Balkans.

4. An attempt was made to destroy the canonical order of the SOC, through historical and contemporary examples in Macedonia, Croatia and in Kosovo.

5. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church and other local churches that adhere to the canon support the preservation of conciliarityby refusing to participate in initiatives leading to the centralization of organization in Orthodoxy.

6. The participants called for an urgent council of all primates of the Orthodox churches, in order to stop further schism and find canonical ways to preserve the unity of the Church.

At the suggestion of Mr. Dane Čanković from the conference a letter was sent to His Holiness Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and all Palestine Theophilos III, which we convey in full:

Your Holiness,
Participants of the International Conference "Church and schisms – abuse of religion for geopolitical purposes", which was held in Belgrade on the 30th. June 2025. the year, in which famous international political scientists, priests, religious experts and social activists participated, addressed you with a request that, as patriarch of Jerusalem and all of Palestine, but also guardian of the Tomb of the Lord Jesus Christ, invite to the assembly of the Primates of all Orthodox churches, with the aim of considering today's ultimate critical and dramatic situation in the Orthodox Church and above the canonical paths for its survival.
In addition, we point out that we are witnessing the approaching deadly danger to the survival of the Orthodox Church as a whole, especially since today it is more than obvious that the disappearance of the Orthodox faith is the primary goal of the new world order.
Unfortunately, some Orthodox primers also participate in these activities, which leaves grave consequences on our conciliar unity, and significantly weakens the position of the Orthodox Church in the world. In the first place, we emphasize the uncanonical act of the granting of Tomos by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to the schismatics in Ukraine and the formation of the so-called "Orthodox Churches of Ukraine". Immediately afterwards, the Ukrainian Security Service began an unprecedented terror against the members of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, recognized by the entire Orthodox world, including the Greek church, for more than 300 years! Then the Ukrainian parliament (Supreme Rada) passed law 8371 banning the work and activities of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is the first time in history that the work of a local canonical Orthodox Church has been banned. At the same time, this resulted in the interruption of Eucharistic communion between the patriarchates of Constantinople and the Moscow patriarchates (the most populous Orthodox Church in the world).
Also, we are witnessing the recent terrorist attacks and beastly killings of Orthodox believers in Syria, who are under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Antioch, as well as the persecution of the Serbian Orthodox population in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.
For all of the above, we ask you, as patriarch of Jerusalem and all of Palestine, but also as guardian of the Tomb of the Lord Jesus Christ, to protect the survival of the Orthodox Church of Christ, to invite to the assembly of the Primates of all Orthodox churches in Amman, Jordan, as you did in March 2020. on the basis of conciliarity, they would consider today's critical and dramatic situation in the Orthodox Church and find solutions and ways for its survival.
We pray to the Lord God for your good health, we kiss your Holy right hand and remain forever loyal.
