Meanwhile, Russian and Western media report that the Russian offensive in the Donbass is accelerating, with more cities being taken every day, and the number of square kilometers of Ukrainian territory "liberated" there in the last month already roughly corresponds to the 1,000 Ukrainians of elite forces captured in Russia's Kursk region in the same period. Of course, these two Conquests are incomparable: the Ukrainians have a weak position in the territory that they cannot consolidate to hold since their supply lines from the border are under constant deadly attacks from the air and Russian artillery, while the Russian advance of the Donbass battle line is being crushed by long-standing Ukrainian fortified positions and preparations to completely disrupt the logistics that allow Ukrainian forces to remain in Donbass.
The same colleagues pointed out the destruction of the best current and future Ukrainian personnel in the field of radio-electronic combat in a Russian missile strike last week at the Institute of military communications in Poltava, in which 700 Ukrainian and NATO soldiers were allegedly killed.
However, this seemingly turning point in Russia's favor is, as we have discussed, setting the stage for another absolutely desperate and ill-considered act by the Biden administration to deprive Russia of its well-deserved victory by escalating the conflict to World War II.
What I think is almost certain is that the United States and Britain have just agreed to allow the Zelensky regime to use long-range missiles delivered to Ukraine, including, of course, the Storm Shadow and probably also the 1,500 km-range stealth missile known as the JASSM, to strike deep into Russian territory and thus "bring war to Russia," as the Zelensky gang put it.
That is the meaning of Secretary of state Blinken's trip to Kiev this week and his visit to the White House on Friday by British Prime Minister Starmer.
