Dragana Trifkovic: The US is coordinating the actions of both the Serbian government and the Serbian opposition

Mass protests have begun in Belgrade. Opposition members and their supporters, who disagree with the results of the recent parliamentary elections, have taken to the streets, blocking roads and attacking government buildings. Law enforcement agencies are responding by trying to contain the unrest. The situation is heating up.

According to experts, an attempt is being made to stage a coup in Serbia on the model of Ukraine’s Maidan in 2014. Most experts believe that the actions of the Serbian opposition are coordinated by Brussels and Washington.

Is a political revolution possible in Serbia?

The director of the Center for Geostrategic Studies, Dragana Trifkovic, gave the Public News Service her own take on the issue:

US President Donald Trump received the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo at the White House. What results did the parties achieve at the Washington meeting?

“Firstly, the agreement signed in Washington between Belgrade and Pristina does not correspond to the interests of the Republic of Serbia and its international position on any point. The biggest winner of the agreement reached is Israel, which, in my opinion, was a mediator in the harmonisation and agreement between the two sides and Washington. Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic, through the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, in March this year agreed on part of the commitments, including the opening of Serbia’s diplomatic and economic mission in Jerusalem, which is a violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 478.

In Serbia the situation is heated right now. A lot of protests, and the Serbian government reacted very violently against the protesters. What do you think about them?

Spontaneous protests in Serbia were provoked by President Aleksandar Vučić, who announced the reinstatement of lockdown for citizens of Belgrade in connection with the coronavirus epidemic.

It is about the fact that we in Serbia had for months the strictest lockdown measures in Europe and then the government abolished all measures in order to hold the elections, even though it was a health risk.

Дводневна посета француског председника протекла је у гламуру и помпи. Била је то још једна режија „суверенових јаничара“ (израз Живојина Павловића, који се односио на Броза и његове посилне), режија која је сурову стварност преобразила у веселу слику. Шта спаја Макрона и Вучића?

Председник Француске Емануел Макрон морао је да одложи раније најављену посету Београду у децембру, због немира у Француској. Иако су француски медији ову посету најављивали као потврду оснаживања пријатељства Париза и Београда, јасно је да се ради о чистој пропаганди режимских медија. Тврдње о француско-српском пријатељству су део романтичарско-идеолошког погледа везаног за Први светски рат. Он је заснован на уважавању које су француски војници имали према српској армији и заједничкој борби на Солунском фронту. Ипак ствари су се од тада много промениле и не постоји никаква основа да се француско-српски односи данас гледају кроз призму Првог светског рата. То је потврдио и сам председник Француске када је на прослави поводом стогодишњице од завршетка Првог светског рата сместио председника Србије у магарећу клупу, док је такозваног председника самопроглашеног Косова ставио међу најважније званице.

SERBIA IS NOW DE FACTO ‘AT NATO’S DISPOSAL’

BELGRADE – When Serbian leadership claims that it wants to remain “neutral” and to cooperate with both NATO and Russia, this is a half-truth, since the Alliance has already entered Serbia, Serbian expert in geopolitics Dragana Trifkovic told Sputnik.

In an exclusive interview with Sputnik, Dragana Trifkovic, Serbian expert in geopolitics and the Director General of the Center for Geostrategic Studies in Belgrade, shared her views regarding the ratification of a logistical support agreement between Serbia and NATO in February 2016.

“The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the NATO Support and Procurement Organization (NSPO) on cooperation in the field of logistical support, provides the basis for an even closer cooperation between Serbia and NATO. It regulates the relationship between our country and NATO, which was established by an Individual Partnership Action Plan, which represents the highest level of cooperation of a country that is not a member of this organization,” she explained.

The Vucic Government’s Secret Pact With NATO

Although NATO officially stands for the preservation of peace and security, its actions result in the exact opposite effects manifested in partitioned states and the spread of terrorism. The citizens of Serbia have an extremely negative attitude towards NATO in regards to its aggressive activities and, above all, our experiences in 1995 and 1999 when this organization bombarded us and thereby violated international law. According to public opinion polls in Serbia, 80% of Serbs oppose any cooperation with NATO. The Serbian government, however, does not adhere to the will of the overwhelming majority of the people, but instead acts as if it is responsible to NATO and not the Serbian state whose interests it is supposed to protect. 

 

Significant advances in Serbia’s cooperation with NATO were realized in 2015. This information can be found on NATO’s official website [1] in which it is clear that Serbia officially chose the rather strict path of cooperation through the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP). Serbia’s actions in regards to NATO have drawn attention in Russia. This subject was discussed during the closing session of the board meeting of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, at which the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu presented an analysis of the military-security situation in the world in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin [2].

Шампиони ратовања против шампиона лагања

Танјуг и РТС су 7. фебруара пренели да је у оквиру 51. Минхенске безбедоносне конференције, на панелу „Украјина и нерешени конфликти у Европи“, српски премијер Александар Вучић нагласио „да морамо сачувати живе људе на све стране, а да ће Србија као председавајући ОЕБС учинити најбоље с партнерима Швајцарском и Немачком да се то и оствари“.

Танјуг нам даље о активности нашег премијера саопштава: „Нагласио је да у Србији најбоље знамо (подвукао М.Ш.) шта значи изгубити животе и шта значе ратови“.

И даље, премијер Србије Александар Вучић је према Танјугу и РТС-у још изјавио:

„…Имам добре идеје, користићу нешто што личи на шалу, али је истина – ми Срби смо један од шампиона по броју ратова које смо водили од 19. века до недавно. Искусили смо најтеже ситуације, патили пуно, изгубили пола мушког становништва, учинили смо доста лоших ствари другим људима, и нашли смо данас нешто што је од највећег значаја по нашу земљу, а то је мир и стабилност“, истакао је премијер.
